I can’t imagine life without music. I can’t imagine life without my smartphone either. And for most people like me nowadays there can’t be the first without the second. The coolest part about owning a smartphone is being able to wear your music on you, wherever you want, for as long as you want (or until the battery dies out).
But yeah, whipping out my phone every time I want to change something is a pain. Enter smartwatch and now, all my music controls are actually on a tiny screen on my wrist. How cool is that! But if there is one thing (or things) better than having your music on your smartphone, it has got to be the fantastic apps that let you control and actually use your playlist in ways you never even thought of.Check out these apps now out for smartwatches:Music Boss- This has got to be the ultimate music /media controller. It was a favorite for the Pebble and is now available for Android Wear. You can have a ‘Launch Musicboss notification’ on the wear notification stream, for quicker access. It works with all your media apps helping you synch them together. You can control playback, volume and even change tracks by swiping across the tiny screen. It also displays a wealth of information on all your media apps. Plus your music experience is enriched by a media screen in tune with the current Album art.
Bandsintown – If you are one of those people for whom music is nothing if it isn’t live and you religiously stalk your favorite bands online, then this app is for you. It helps you to find concert listings, displays a personalized custom concert calendar and even book tickets through hundreds of websites, so you’ll never miss a single show by your favorite musician/band. Also depending on your preferences, it even helps you discover new and upcoming musicians in the music genre of your interest and helps you track them too.
MusicXmatch-This is when you listen to an awesome song but think “What the heck are they singing?!” Musicians can sound a bit warbled. But with this app, have the lyrics to the songs displayed right on the watch screen. In case you have multiple apps open, you can still see the lyrics floating over them. So don’t miss a word spewed out by that rapper.
Wear Music Controller- This app enables you to control any music player (mobile) from your watch. This is an app that can be launched through a voice command and will remain on Always-On mode until dismissed. It helps you to play or pause your music, change tracks and control volume through your watch. One thing the app does not do unlike say for example MusicBoss, is actually display information about the music- song title, artist etc. But still in many ways, it is a pretty cool app.
I am totally smitten by MusicXmatch. Now I can sing along my favorite songs with perfect lyrics. So, which one is yours?
