5 Revolutionary Products from the Apple Stable

Apple had a lot to do in the 21st Century and the products that it came up with truly changed the way we looked at gadgets. Ever since Steve Jobs rejoined Apple in 1997 until his death in 2011, this revolutionary pioneer changed the face of the personal computer products. The world that we know today did not even exist 15 years ago; such has been the influence of Apple!

Let’s take a look at five of the most important products from the Apple stable.

1. Mac – The first Macintosh was introduced to the world by Jobs in 1984, and we have more than 60 million Mac users in the world today. What started as ‘a white box in a bag’ is today a wafer thin version that is ‘as much a work of art as it is state of the art’. At an introductory price of $2495, Macintosh was the first personal computer to offer a graphical user interface with an array of icons that replaced the old text-based operating systems.

2. iPod – A product that dramatically altered the music industry from the time of its introduction in 2001, iPod is the portable music player with an intelligent user interface, an extensive storage capacity (over 1000 songs, on an average) and an exhaustive download capability. Since its introduction, over 350 million iPods have been sold, which bears testimony to the influence of this product. When iPod added Windows compatibility in 2002, it practically became the only music player in the industry and also placed Apple at the head of the digital industry.

3. iTunes – When iTunes debuted on 2003, Apple literally opened the door to the online music retail. With an inventory of over 200,000 songs that users could download at only 99 cents each, Apple surpassed its yearly target within a week. With tie-ups with some famous singers and music producers at that time, iTunes greatly contribute to reducing piracy in the music industry. In addition to music, iTunes nowadays also offers movies and TV shows.

4. iPhone – Undoubtedly the most valuable product that transformed the hand phone industry, the iPhone was first introduced by Apple in 2007. Unprecedented lines outside Apple stores at the iphone launch are the most memorable moments in digital history. Declared by the Times as ‘The Invention of The Year’ in 2007, iPhone is the touch screen phone with multimedia capabilities. Any new smartphone that comes in the market is invariably compared to the iPhone; such is the popularity that it enjoys.

5. iPad – Jobs wanted to bring a tablet into the market which did not use any stylus or keyboard, and so iPad was born. Introduced to the world in 2010, iPad spawned multiple copycats, none of which came even close. Till date more than 170 million iPads have been sold in the market.
